After five weeks of filming in natural locations across Tenerife, The Silenced (Los Silenciados) has wrapped principal photography — and the Spanish film press has been following every step.
Principal photography took place largely in the historic hamlet of Icor, in the municipality of Arico — a place seemingly outside time, whose stone houses and quiet paths give the film exactly the atmosphere its story demands. The production counted on the support of the Tenerife Film Commission, the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Ayuntamiento de Arico.
The Silenced is a contemporary psychological horror feature directed by Flavio Pedota. It follows an American couple who, drowning in debt, leave Texas behind for a fresh start in a remote village on a volcanic island — where not every second chance comes free.
“The Silenced is not just a horror film; it is a story about the things we cannot escape, even when we believe we have left everything behind.”
— Flavio Pedota, director, in Audiovisual451
An international cast on Canary soil
The film brings together international genre names and Spanish talent on the same call sheet:
- Alexandra Essoe — Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass, The Pope's Exorcist
- Jesse Moss — Final Destination 3, Tucker and Dale vs Evil
- Costas Mandylor — the Saw franchise
- Toni Acosta — Padre no hay más que uno
- Malena González — La Distancia más larga, also executive producer
- Luifer Rodríguez — Treinta monedas, El Hierro
Behind the camera, the technical team was led by director of photography Eduardo R. Servello, AMC, with production design by Cristóbal Tabares and technical support from EFD Studios. Casting was led by producer Victoria Masellis.
“From casting we built an ensemble able to carry a deeply emotional story inside a demanding genre universe — Canarian, Spanish and international talent that gives the story authenticity and real reach in the global market.”
— Victoria Masellis, producer & casting director, in Audiovisual451
A co-production model that works
The Silenced is a production of LOMA FILMS together with Anaga Media and E Media Canary Projects — proof of the co-production and incentive model we offer international partners: shoot world-class stories in the Canary Islands, with local structure and support behind them.
“The goal was to structure a solid, internationally competitive project. Shooting in the Canary Islands allowed us not only to optimise the production model, but to draw on a creative environment of enormous value to the global industry.”
— Carmen Aguado, executive producer, in Audiovisual451
The film now enters post-production, with an international festival and sales-market run planned for 2026.
