How much is the Canary Islands film tax incentive?

Under the Canarian Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), eligible productions can access a rebate of 54% on the first €1M of qualifying spend and 45% on the remainder, with a cap of €36M per feature film — around 20 percentage points above mainland Spain. We confirm the exact terms in force for each project before structuring.

Can foreign productions access it?

Yes. International producers typically access the incentive through a Spanish co-production or through a production-services structure, with a Canarian company such as LOMA FILMS acting as the local producer of record.

What else makes the islands competitive?
